well Karen, looks like this helpful site is no use to you! too bad you'll fail chemistry in the leaving if you don't learn your teacher's definitons off by heart. cheers for sharing the link MeetPiiE
Haha, pretty complicated but i got into UCD and was there for about two weeks but now im in Canada! Its not too bad,,college is a bit small compared to UCD but im enjoying it! I wanted medicine in ireland but missed out so im doing a BSc here then ill apply for medicine in Canada and see where i go from there!
It was kind of sudden (the move to Canada) but i was set on repeating the LC too if i had stayed,100 % certain so i was!
Wbu? what are you hoping to do ?
Nice .. sounds like fun .. big jump across the pond .. how did you end up in canada from UCD though :L
Well im the same hoping for medicine second time round in Ireland .. need to start coming up with back ups though .. its been hard to get back into study and then theres the hpat again and with the system i have to repeat all 8 subjects again!!
But fingers crossed ill get it this time and if not theres always a post grad
like i said its pretty complicated ,,, since i didn't get medicine i ended up accepting science even though i wanted to repeat. But a while before that my dad got offered a new post in the local university in the area we're now staying in in canada,so basically i said id move along with my whole family to canada as well.
Omg you would not believe the amount of ppl i met in UCD in my science course who didn't get medicine! Even my mentor who's in 2nd year science wanted medicine....its tough enough and like you said,i hate the fact that we have to re-sit the whole exam! It was hard enough doing LC honors english the first time round so imagine doing it in a year....its mad! but i was so set on repeating..its crazy over here,in order to apply for medicine you HAVE to have done a 4 year science degree and then apply for the MCAT (hpat type test but it only tests biology, chemistry, physics and english)....so i hope this way get's me in! i had science as my back up but if im being honest, its not what id want to be studying! like,i love the human systems and biology but im not that fond of darwinism and the likes...my friend got 580 points in the LC and 175 in the hpat and still wasn't offered a place .... so its pretty hard in all fairness....
ah right fair enough :L .. is life much different to here in Ireland ?
yeah i only know a few people that went for it that actually got it .. its ridic ..
yeah english this year is some joke .. there is just so much work involved .. Hamlet, four new poets, new comparative .. grrr .. only good thing is Boland should defo come up this year :L
Wow thats some serious time in college over there so .. 4 years before ya can apply .. jasus .. yeah tis very tough all the same .. and these god damn christmas tests are the first steps on the way but they are the worst :L
But crimbo is on the way ... cant wait
oh god,its pretty different like in little ways,i miss carlow so much though!!! ah its mad yeah...i mean we did Boland last year but she didn't come up and if i was repeating and she STILL didn't come up id have to probe assassinate the examiner.... hamlet as well...i mean,it took us nearly a year and a half to do Lear really well.....its hard enough repeating isn't it ?
mad amount of time in school!! haha They say the average age in medical schools here is 26 years ... so in ireland my friend would be about 23/24 graduating,id be 26 starting!! :o
ah xmas tests....followed by the mocks...the system in ireland is absolute crap if im honest..my brothers in high school here and end of year exams account for ONLY 30% of the over all grade, continuos assessment in class tests will get you your grade point average,,its easier that way,no stress of having to learn off huge amounts of crap for one day. You just try your best at learning for each class test and you'll be grand!
Whooo! christmas can't wait! It'll be the break every LCer needs
