Hi all,
Welcome to the new blog section of AllHonours. I’ve been threatening to do this since early 2008 and finally got around to it! Here I hope to build up a team of Junior Cert and Leaving Cert students who will blog their way through the exams, providing a uniquely creative and colourful analysis of the tough exam year!! Have a flair for writing, and are looking for yet another reason not to be studying?! Then continue reading…..
As this is a new service, it is open to all members. Simply email me at info [at] allhonours.ie if interested with a sample blog post. In the sample, introduce yourself and treat it as if it’s your first post on AllHonours.ie. Be as tame or as controversial as you like!
I’m only looking for 10 Leaving Cert 1 more Leaving Cert or Junior Cert students (just signed up our 9th blogger! :]). I hope to start this blog immediately so start writing now to ensure you are 1 of the lucky students selected to blog ![]()
As the blog has become extremely popular, I’ve decided not to limit the number of bloggers, so if you have a sample post send it on. However as I now receive sample posts from aspiring bloggers on a weekly basis, only the best quality writers will receive an account.
Look forward to reading your posts.
Patrick.

under pressure for the leavinhg cert

So it’s Jason here with my usual rant of the week about all things exams! So doing the auld Junior this year, not a big deal to all with looming CAO forms, and college course requirements, but still a big deal on it’s own!.
So the pressure is on to study at this stage, doesn’t help in the slighest that my mam is vice-principal of the school i attend, and also my French and English teacher!
Of course it hasn’t really set in yet that in 8 months i will be sitting in room 6A scribbling down answers until my arm goes numb, but the pressure is on to study, study, study!
The teachers keep piling on test, after test, after test, and of course numerous english and irish essays, and mountainous piles of homework!
It’s not easy at home either for a number of reasons
Numero Un. My mam is my teacher
Numero Do. Both my older sister and brother got 12 A’s in their Junior
& Finally Troix, IM DYING WITH A COLD!
Oh well that’s my rant for the week, Unfortunaely i’ll have to love you and leave you.
The joy of Spanish and French homework awaits me.

Well, Hello all!
I stumbeled across this blogosphere quite by accident, I was actually looking for an answer to a french exam question I couldnt bring myself to do, a friend suggested allhonours.ie and i thought to myself all honours? sounds good. but alas, no sample answere but some really interesting and motivating blogs now im logging on here everyday to read everyones blogs it gives me a great sense of comfort to read about everyone elses struggles at the dreaded L.C
I just turned 17 last week and am attempting the leaving cert for the first time and *hopefully* the last. So far its been..well.. I cant quite think of a word to describe it its actually the exact same as 5th year?
I thought the minute i crossed the treshold of my school and entered the famous 6TH YEAR I’d be suddenly struck by some divine intervention by an urge to study study study. actually no. Im up to my usual tricks leaving things to the last minute, learning vocab walking from the car to the class, writting my irish on my hand + sleeping my way through geography and biology! HELP! It still hasnt hit me that I am DOING THE LEAVING CERT and frankly wondering if it ever will?

So the leaving cert?
still trying to comprehend the whole idea of constent swating, breakdowns, and impossible questions on comple numbers . Yes the year has finally come, the stress is building and the pressure is on! What do i do to calm myself? I sing out loud, really loud! Yes it sounds stuppid but it tends to block out the whole idea of 2 weeks of the most important exams ever!&ifi fail maths (my worst subject btw) i fail the whole thing! What a pleasanr realisation

Hey People
<3
Its Abi! Im a 17 yr old doing the famous Leaving Cert for the 2nd time! Yup Thats right, i got such a thrill the first time I decided to it again! NOT!
Last Yr 08-09 I used as my “party yr” The year when it was important that “knuckle down” I went off the rails! I Infamously became the Party girl Of CVS!
I alwways thought I was Sorted I Was Naturally Gifted after all! I Was Off To UCD Come September! Pfffftt! With My Head In The Clouds I Soon Became Very Lazy & Crammend The Last 2 Weeks Off May ( Seriously I Do NOT Recommend This!!) All In All I Gots A Decent Enough Leaving But Not Enough 4 I Wanted To Do.. I Was Truly Gutted! I Went From The Party Girl To The Repeat Loser! It Wasnt An Easy Choice To Repeat and It Truely Isnt Easy Being Back! Your Knocked Out Of Your Confort Zone & Into The Extreme Pressures That You CANNOT F**kd Up Again :/ .. All My Friends Are At College & My BFF Lizzy Is At Some Preforming Art School in PARIS, Whilst Im sharing Boring Nyts In With Good Auld Pat Kavangh! Jealous? Hell Yeah! My Point Is That Althou It Seems Cool To Wing Your Way Through It Your Luck Will Eventually Run Out! Its Only A 6 Months ! Seriously Put In Some Effort Cause After June Its Party Party Party!

Shonagh my dear (apologies for not using a fada also, I have one over my o but my keyboard skills are so poor that I can’t find it), why so down and bleak? I hope it’s only because of the chilling weather. Speaking as a repeat I can tell you that you can still enjoy the next six odd months, so none of that negativity!:) Last year I saw so many people enjoy themselves and find the right work/play balance, so don’t let anyone tell you that you should only be focused on the Leaving between now and June. Fun fun fun! Although there are the delusional fantasists who think they’re intelligent enough to get 570 points even though frankly they have no natural intelligence, and ultimately end up disappointed, but we’ll deal with them at a later date, our glass is half full today!;)
So why am I here? Well I found no balance last year. It was all play with me! Without damning myself too much, well, all I’ll say is Tramore beach is gorgeous in May, and The Hills as a television series is the best thing on television since a man broke free on The Late Late Show and called Pat Kenny a piece of shit! So yeah I think it’s fair to politely describe my effort last year as sweet F.A., politely. I gave myself the biology course to learn the night of June 10th, before falling asleep with the books at my bedside! I did pass the Honours Paper for the record. However I’m not proud of myself and this year the amount of work I’ve done compared to last year is incredible (pat on the back).
Six honours subjects last year, with a fail in the Higher Irish paper, I’ve since dropped back wisely. It all resulted in just above average 310 points. While respectable I’m capable of much more. Much much more (I’m arrogant and pretentious). In the same school as last year now, so the preferred term for me is a 7th year!:P There’s only three of us repeating and I’m lucky to have one of my best friends with me with his missus!:) So mix us in with a heap of sheer babies compared to us (Transition Year is optional in my school and I did it, so half the year are two years younger than me!) and I believe you have a tasty and unique situation! And that’s basically a (very) petit introduction to me, mental!
We’ll have as much fun as a naughty hedgehog in a balloon factory from now ’til the big L.C. so keep checking in!;) We’ll have happy times, inspiring you all to go out for the night. We’ll have serious times, leading you to hit the books for a long, arduous study graft. And we’ll have edgy times, where I’ll upset people even though I’ll be right, ’cause I always really am to be honest. Love or hate me, I always divide other people’s opinions.
So Shonagh again, I want as much positivity as a famous golfer at The Playboy Mansion, it’s all smiles from here!:) Since beginning this draft I’ve spent a handful of nights out with friends and I’ve still been able to do this running parralel to putting effort towards June. It can be done. Some things ARE more important than exams. (Of course it’s important that you don’t develop an addiction to alcohol or anything now, I’m not encouraging anything of the sorts! And none of you are to turn out as I did last year, no matter how many hilarious memories I now possess (and not one regret in between all them

i genuinely believe that Eavan boland will be on the leaving certificate i have researched through past papers and she has not come up since 2005. eavan boland is brilliant i think that her poetry really tells us that beauty is found in her her simplistic style of writing also i also believe that general vision or view point will come up because cultural context has come up in the past three years. i hope every one those well in the leaving cert and i advice you to take my advice if you dont believe me check the past papers and see for yourself

Afternoon,
Exams? I’m going to be the typical teenager here and say much like homework, I don’t see the point. All they do is cause me to break out in spots, and wake up at half six and struggle to get back to sleep. Anyway, these exams have been more of a laugh then I thought they’d be. The breaks between each one have been just filled with gossip and relief that the previous exam is over
In my opinion the JC doesn’t matter, but anyone fretting over it like some of my friends, calm down! You don’t want to be the person that turns up to the exam sweating with nerves and laden with rabbits legs for luck. Not cool. I may be the only person who finds Lady GaGa relaxing to study to but i don’t know, maybe you should try it.
What I don’t understand, is why I have to learn business, like I’m becoming a little business woman when i plan on doing somthing much more arty, like dancing. Still my school doesn’t cater to a lot of our needs so i don’t mind
Tomorrow, i have business all day, paper one and two. I’m terrified. It’s such an easy exam to completely mess up. It’s still not as scary as maths, but thank god that’s behind me
Well i have to go, if i get caught on the internet again instead of studying i’ll be toast.
Slater, love english girl,
Lu.
leave the rabbit legs at home
x
