A lot of college open days are coming up in the next couple of months. Here is a list of the ones I've found out about. It would be advised that fifth and sixth years go to these open days and ask questions about the courses you might be considering putting on your CAO.

    UCC - 24/4/10

    NUI Maynooth - 24/4/10

Dunboyne College of Further Education - 28/4/10

Castlerea Community School (Business Studies PLC) - 7/5/10

    RACE - 11/5/10

Senior College Dun Laoghaire - 12/5/10

Kinsale College of Further Education - 15/5/10

    RACE - 18/5/10

Bray Institute of Further Education - 19/5/09

Killester College of Further Education - 19/5/10

    RACE - 25/5/10

Drogheda Institute of Further Education - 28/5/10

    Sound Training Centre - 19/6/10

    NUI Maynooth - 29/6/10

Senior College Dun Laoghaire - 16/8/10

    Griffith College Cork - 19/8/10

If anyone has gone to the previous open days, post your opinion on the day and the institution, whether it has helped you make up your mind or not!!

the ones in 2010 are generally targeted for fifth year students, I'd advise everyone to try and get to one or two of the colleges that they think they might be interested in going to, even though you may not know what course you want to do. Talk to those people on the stands, I promise they won't bite - I've been on stands and people are afraid to come over and say anything!

I don't know if this is even relating to open days ... But the Easter college in UCC is amazing !! Basically its a one week event which takes place after the Easter mid-term and it just lets students (4th & 5th years) browse around the campus and gives you an idea of what the courses are like by putting together simple tutorial classes . I think it only lets 8 students from each school attend so that might put some people off going but don't let it , I went and I thought it was an amazing experience . I'm from Cork myself so people generally assume its just Cork students but in my group alone there were students from six counties !! So basically I'm recommending that if you get the chance to go to any of these college open weeks(:?) then do They're a great experience and gives you the opportunity to interact with other people interested in the same courses you are

I think that Easter college could be related to the ACCESS or UCC Plus programme run by the college - it does exist in other colleges AFAIK! I think the college can provide accomodation to those students travelling from other counties, plus you really get the full college experience!
