hi Shauna18,

focus on each of these points as a paragraph:

An attitude to an issue – Usually the majority of the world of a text will hold a certain attitude towards an issue, such as education, personal freedom etc. For example, in the Tempest most characters' personal freedom is ignored, such as Ariel's, as Prospero ignores this and holds him captive. This shows how many in the world are in conflict with their world, as Prospero is not only an individual of the world, but one who holds much power in this world, and can be viewed as the source of power in this place.

Social ritual – a social ritual is an act(ion) carried out by many in the world of the text, such as isolating another person. Many characters isolate others in the text, such as when Prospero isolates Ferdinand when he falls in love with his daughter, due to his fear of the relationship developing too quickly. This again shows an individual in conflict with his world, as others around him seek to assert control of him, and prevent him from doing as he pleases.

Social structures – examine how the worlds are structured – is there hierarchy? Is one person ruling the order of things? Is everyone equal? Prospero, as shown, is in charge of the world of the play and holds more power than others - look at how this allows him to treat Caliban in a cruel manner, which once again shows conflict.

How the cultural context affects the resolution of the plot – finally, consider that characters as mentioned above manage to escape this conflict at the text's end. Is the cultural context overcome at the text's end?

study courses will suite different types of studendts. If you feel as though you would get a lot done on your own,if you feel that if you actually try to study you will acheive what you want then dont bother wasting 100s of euros. But if you feel you need an extra hand, if your teachers are not clear or if one particular subject is weak and you just cant deal with it alone then do give the courses a go. The atmosphere is very good and if nothing else they boost your confidence in the subject,i personally hated chemistry in fifth year, i got a D1 in my summer exams, i ended up doing the course in IOE and i seriously improved,im actually hoping to get a high B in the exams even though the paper this year was really hard. Sure not all predictions are always accurate but they give you an idea. I can honestly say that David Bourke (bio teacher in IOE) was the best teacher i have ever had, anyone who was in his bio class would feel the same way. Notes (especially french ones that i got) were precise and exact. I was extremely well prepared for my oral because of them.
Its true that if you put your heart into your study youll get the best results your looking for, but sometimes that's easier said than done, the revision courses really pushed me to do those extra bits i always put off. I know a lot of girls in my school are all pro these courses for the same above reasons...but again its upto you.

I have heard from close friends of mine that the majority of Revision Courses are a complete waste of money, and that some of the so called "Supreme Notes" are just shortened sentences and small diagrams copied from books and revision books.

To be honest I don't know a huge amount about "Private Courses" or "Revision Courses", however i think you would get more learnt at home, no distractions, instead of spending one day a week travelling up to Dublin and wherever else the courses may be held.

So in accordance to what i've heard about Revision Courses I would not be spending 100's of hard earned euros on them..

Not trying to bring down the Institute Of Education, but i heard that the majority of their Predictions were way of the mark. Especially Home-Economics where they had Milk as one of the big questions on the exam, and not 1 question long or short came up.

i did a weekly saturday morning revision course in the institute of education. I did it just since september to june. i did 3 subjects, bio, chem and french. it cost a bit over 1000 euros. I thought that i definately improved in all those subjects. the teachers in leeson street are like .. unreal! they know what they're talking about, they give out excellent notes that simplify everything, something books cant do. They focus on what needs to be learned for Exams, techniques and predictions. i would totally recommend IOE,leeson st. because they really do live upto their high standard,im from carlow but me and three other girls took the train every saturday morning..it was so worth it! it payed of last month too!
