From an analysis of the past papers I can advise you to focus your studies on the following topics which are due up this year (The first 5 are the most important):- 1. Your chosen Elective option!!! (Obviously ) 2. Waves & Wave Motion 3. Resistance 4. Electromagnetic Induction 5. Electrostatics / Coulomb / EFS 6. Nuclear Fission & Fusion 7. Sound Frequencies, Harmonics etc. 8. Photoelectric Emission 9. Current flow, Amps, & Conductors 10. Radioactivity 11. Forces & Momentum 12. Gravity & Circular Motion 13. Refraction & lens 14. X-Rays 15. Pressure 16. Thermionic Emission ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Also, there are between 20 & 25 experiments on the course. These 16 are most likely to be asked in June. (The 1st ten [written in italics] have never been asked before!):- 1. Measure the refractive index of a liquid 2. Measure Velocity or Acceleration 3. Show the relationship between Force and Acceleration 4. Inv. variation of current with p.d. for a conductor (e.g. -wire) 5. Inv.(see expt 4) for Copper Sulphate with Copper Electrodes! 6. Measure Specific H. C. of water using an electrical method 7. Measure Specific H. C. of a metal using an electrical method 8. Investigate the resistance of a thermistor with temperature 9. Obtain the Calibration Curve of a Thermometer 10. Verify Boyle’s Law 11. Measure Specific latent heat of ‘steam’ 12. Verify Joule’s Law 13. Verify Principle of Conservation of momentum 14. Verify Snell’s Law 15. Investigate the variation of fundamental frequency of a stretched string with LENGTH 16. Variation of current with Potential Difference for a filament bulb 17. Investigate laws of equilibrium for a set of co-planar forces 18. Measure the speed of sound in air 19. Investigate the relationship between period & length of Pendulum 20. This yrs 3rd yrs have an easier/different sylabus so the students going into 5th yr will have the shortened course. The oral will be worth 40% which is going to put a lot ofpressure on parents to send their kids to the Gaeltacht!! Its changing.. You either do the novel ( An Triail, A Thig Na Tit Orm) OR the 5 pros! You only do 5 poems and there is no stair! I'd nearly repeat again to get a B in it haha!
