But one of these topics will be a document study which is pre-selected by the dept of education. OK so a basic Gallery question you should be referring to these five things: INTRODUCTION THE WORKS THE SPACE/GAlLERY ITSELF DOCUMENTATION SUMMARY Obviously for honours level you arent going to be just asked this question ALWAYS. They MIGHT question it differently into 2 parts so dont go off on a big spiel about the documentation when they could be asking about the Space/Gallery. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TEASE INFO from this. Think about it? Its kinda common sense!! IDEA?! <img src="http://www.allhonours.ie/answers/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_idea.gif" title=":idea:" class="bb_smilies" /> <img src="http://www.allhonours.ie/answers/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_arrow.gif" title=":arrow:" class="bb_smilies" /> INTRODUCTION 1. Title of Exhibition 2. Venue? Where was it on? 3. The Artist(s)? nationality etc.. 4. Brief paragraph of Artist(s).. If its a group exhibition perhaps suggest your favourite artist later on when discussing THE WORKS. <img src="http://www.allhonours.ie/answers/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_arrow.gif" title=":arrow:" class="bb_smilies" /> [b]THE WORKS NOTE : Looking through the exam papers they never really ask for more than 2 works.. However just read of the third one before going in!! [i]They might be sneaky and add 3!! [/i] 1. Subject Matter/Theme of Artworks 2. Quantity (How many were on display) 3. Media & Materials used 4. Scale/Size etc... THE 2-3 WORKS IN DETAIL (Try and take a bit of interest in them) (a) Title (b) Medium (c) Size (d) Date (e) Description - COMPOSITION , COLOUR , FORM N.N.B REPEAT and perhaps contrast and compare with others... <img src="http://www.allhonours.ie/answers/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_arrow.gif" title=":arrow:" class="bb_smilies" /> THE SPACE/GALLERY 1.Reception area/foyer - any relevant information/leaflets/catalouge? 2.Then number/size and shape of room. 3.Colour of the walls/floors - significance to exhibition? 4.Lighting used (Natural or other? 5.Sutiability of the space (a) Easy to look at? Can you stand back and go up close? (b) Is it framed , unframed? (c) How are they hung? Eye Level? <img src="http://www.allhonours.ie/answers/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_arrow.gif" title=":arrow:" class="bb_smilies" /> DOCUMENTATION (a) What type? Leaflet? Catalouge? Title Sheet.. etc.. Lists with prices? (b) What kind of info did it contain? Text? Imagery? (c) Was it helpful about the artist + their work(s)? ALWAYS SAY YES! <img src="http://www.allhonours.ie/answers/bb-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_arrow.gif" title=":arrow:" class="bb_smilies" /> [u]SUMMARY 1. Did you find this exhibit interesting? If yes , why? If no why not? 2. Did you like the show? 3. Was it what you expected? 4. Would you change anything? Explain? Remember these are only suggestions but you should have a genearl Gallery Visit Question prepared. Think of it as a Comparitive without major comparisions... :P..
